South East Coast Ambulance Service or SECAmb was established on July 1 2006 when Kent Ambulance Service, Surrey Ambulance Service and Sussex Ambulance Service merged. It is the ambulance service provider of Kent including Medway, Surrey, West Sussex and East Sussex including Brighton and Hove, and a part of Northern-Eastern Hampshire around Aldershot.
SECAmb is also funded through the general taxation which means to say that the services can be availed freely! Every UK citizens has the right to the attendance of the Service.
The sitting Chief Executive is Paul Sutton who is a former Chief Executive Officer of Sussex Ambulance Service and the sitting Chair is Mike Harris who is a former Chair of NHS West Sussex.
The Service attends to 999 calls and has 3 ambulances of the Neonatal Transfer Service for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Also, Patient Transport Services are provided to Kent and Sussex which gives transfers to and/or from hospitals.
In addition, there are two operational Air Ambulances operated by Kent Air Ambulance Trust: the Kent Air Ambulance and the Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance which both provide quality service.
The Sussex Police Air Operations Unit supplements the Air Ambulance in Sussex. Hotel 900 attends to both police and ambulance support.
