East Midlands Ambulance Service

logo emas main East Midlands Ambulance ServiceIn April 1999, there was a mixed service for the East Midlands through the union of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire ambulance services. However, the Service was reorganized on July 1 2006 in which Northamptonshire (former area of Two Shires Ambulance Service) and Lincolnshire (former area of Lincolnshire Ambulance Service) was included to the area coverage. Thus, East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) provides emergency support to the East Midlands of England.

The funding is sourced from the general tax that is why the patients, basically all UK citizens are free to avail the services offered and/or provided by. Every person in UK has the right to the attendance of an ambulance in an emergency.

Also, EMAS provide emergency calls (999), urgent care and PTS to 4.8 million citizens within Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Lincolnshire (north and North East), Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire. There are 3,200 employees at over 70 stations including 2 control rooms at Nottingham and Lincoln.

The services offered by EMAS are as follows:

  • Emergency care and transferring of patients
